THE JOURNEY
Lisa has been an educator and an advocate for people in both her personal and professional life.
Lisa began her career in finance when she worked for a faith based nonprofit. In addition to managing their finances she also helped them open a foster care agency and a 501 (c) 3 community development organization. Feeling a greater call to help people in their everyday lives she went on to become an educator. She began her teaching career when she worked at PACE Center for Girls, a Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) girl’s school. There she started as an English Language Arts teacher and went on to be promoted to Academic Manager where she trained and mentored other teachers. While serving as Academic Manager she created career academies for students to explore and begin their pursuit of their career interests in the areas of STEM, cosmetology, culinary arts, nursing, forensics, and more. The career academies partnered with community stakeholders to introduce students to real world work experiences.
Lisa went to work for the Escambia County School District. There she worked in the Business Department as a Workforce Education teacher for the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) department. Her students often led in the number of industry certifications earned. From CTE instructor, Lisa went on to help young adults seeking employment, and who have a disability, connect to their future through work based learning as an instructor with Project SEARCH.
In addition to Lisa’s full-time job, she started Momentum Network, Inc. Momentum is an education 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides workforce and life skills training, coaching, and workshops for youth and adults. Momentum also specializes in working with vulnerable populations and individuals with disabilities. In addition, Momentum Network is a vendor with the Florida Department of Education Vocational Rehabilitation and serves as an implementation partner with Florida Ready To Work.
Lisa feels abundantly blessed to say that she loves the work she does for people everyday.
She earned her undergraduate degree in Business Management, then later went on to the University of West Florida to earn her Master’s Degree in Public Administration. She has been married for 32 years to her amazing husband Frank, and together they are proud parents of their two children Joel and Rhema and their amazing granddaughter London. In her free time she loves to read, travel, and entertain family and friends
